Inspired by building sustainably and having a minimal impact on the site, this post-and-beam dwelling in the woods is designed to offer generous spaces to the inhabitants while remaining modest in its ecological footprint and size.
The entry is tucked on the building’s flank, each side of the building offering something different. On the north an intimate view to the terrain of ferns and garden while the southern and western exposure open onto a large deck with views to the rear of the forested property.
Natural wood and stone finishes fill the space creating a feeling of warmth and earthiness. Windows are selectively placed on the southern exposure bringing in an abundance of natural light into the living space and sleeping nook. A fireplace comfortably rests in the center of the hearth near the kitchen.
