Job Description

Student employees assist in sorting inbound USPS mail for boxholders and departments. They help receive and process inbound shipments from UPS, FedEx, and Amazon for boxholders. Responsibilities include sorting letters, loading package lockers, and shelving packages for boxholders. They distribute packages to customers at the service window and respond to inquiries. Additionally, they may participate in department mail routes to support route staff and process outgoing mail as needed.

•Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate professionally and courteously, both verbally and in writing.
•Ability to exercise independent judgment and make appropriate decisions within assigned responsibilities.
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships and work successfully as part of a team.
•Ability to follow directions and instructions from supervisors and coworkers.
•Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy when completing assigned tasks.
•Basic computer, telephone, and office equipment skills.
•Ability to organize, file, track, and maintain information and records.
Dependability, including regular attendance, punctuality, and the ability to complete assigned work in a timely manner.

•Ability to safely lift and carry up to 70 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be eligible for Facilities Services student employment, an applicant must:

Be enrolled at UAF with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or

Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and

Have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA, or a newly enrolled student.

Position Details:

This recruitment is open to undergraduate students only.

Student starting pay - $16.20/hr
